Reader's Theater

We have been working hard on some reader's theater.  I attempted to upload a teaser video, but was having some technical problems, so I will describe what we have been doing.  In reader's theater students read different parts of a script with a group of other students.  This is such a fantastic opportunity for students to practice so many skills.  In reader's theater we work on public speaking, teamwork, listening, reading fluency, reading accuracy, and so much more.  We will be presenting our reader's theater before our Potlatch celebration next Wednesday.  We are getting very excited to present our reading to you then!

Monday Madness

We had an explosive start to our week.  We worked on distance problems in math and in literacy and discovery we began thinking about a few things.  As you know we have been working on a Native Americans unit, and we will have a culminating event next Wednesday the 19th starting at 2.  In preparation for that we will be preparing our room as well as our voices, as we will be performing a reader's theater for all of you!  This will consist of students performing short plays that are based on different legends.  These plays will be chosen by the students and everyone is eager to begin work on them tomorrow!  We will also be creating some "visual reports" to show the food. clothing, and shelter used by natives of different regions of our country. 

As for math we have been working on the difference between different numbers...

use this 200 chart to work with your student to find the difference between some of the following number pairs:  36 and 98,  47 and 135, 15 and 185, and 64 and 146.  That is all for now, check back tomorrow for some updates about our reader's theater, math work, and visual reports.
